The Combine Derby at the Barrie Fair is a one-of-a-kind spectacle where massive farm combines go head-to-head in a battle of sheer power and destruction!

Unlike traditional demolition derbies, this event features towering agricultural giants colliding, pushing, and grinding each other until only one remains standing. The sight of these enormous machines crashing, with metal crunching and engines roaring, is an unforgettable experience that thrills crowds of all ages. NO CHANGES OR ALTERATIONS OF RULES TO BE MADE EXCEPT BY ESSA AGRIPLEX (HOME OF THE BARRIE FAIR). NO REFUNDS IMPORTANT:

 Each driver, mechanic and any pit crew must sign in at the registration desk the day of show. Drivers must bring their cars to inspection to have their cars inspected. DRIVER MUST ATTEND DRIVER’S MEETING PRIOR TO DEMOLITION DERBY OR DRIVER WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. I have read the rules and acknowledge to have received a copy and agree that the decision of the Judges is final. I agree to participate at my own risk. It is a condition of my participation in the contest that I sign a further release of liability in the form to be supplied by ESSA AGRIPLEX (HOME OF THE BARRIE FAIR) and I agree to sign such a release. SPECIAL NOTICE: NO ALCOHOL OR DRUGS ALLOWED IN ANY RESTRICTED (PIT, HOLDING OR PERFORMING) AREA. ANY VIOLATIONS WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF CAR, DRIVER AND CREW. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR NOT FOLLOWING THIS RULE!!! DRIVERS and MECHANICS are subject to and must obey the following rules and regulations which are set up by the promoter and the track where this event is being held.

 

  1. For all classes not labelled as a “Youth” class, each driver must be a minimum age of 16 and sign a waiver.

 

  1. The original registered driver must drive the registered vehicle for the entire event. No substituting drivers. 

 

  1. ESSA AGRIPLEX (HOME OF THE BARRIE FAIR) or promoter reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries, drivers or pit persons. 

 

  1. Only the driver and mechanic will be permitted in the pit area or on the track. Drivers and mechanics are in the pit area at their own risk. All drivers, mechanics and pit persons MUST sign an insurance waiver and wear supplied wristbands at all times. Failure to do so may result in ejection from the event or grounds. 

 

  1. ESSA AGRIPLEX (HOME OF THE BARRIE FAIR), the promoter, track owner or fair association will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to any cars, trucks, parts or personal property before, during and after the show. 

 

  1. It is highly recommended that each competitor carry their own liability insurance. 

 

  1. Drivers and mechanics should report to the ESSA AGRIPLEX (HOME OF THE BARRIE FAIR) sign in area at a minimum of 1.5 hours before the scheduled start time. 

 

TYPE OF VAN/TRUCK 

 

  1. Any factory built 4 or 6 cyl minivan, compact SUV, compact/light duty truck. AWD/4×4 vehicles allowed with one drive shaft removed. NO hearses, limousines or checker cabs No half ton trucks. Check with Edge if your make and model is questionable.

 

  1. Cars previously ran may be considered too battered and unsafe, resulting in disqualification. 

 

  1. If there is any question regarding the participant’s vehicle, it is the driver’s responsibility to prove make, model, year, engine rear end, etc. RUNNING Risk: Demolition derbies are hazardous and high-risk sports; therefore, anyone with a health condition, i.e., concussion, heart problems, or who is pregnant should not compete. You are competing at your own risk. Protect yourself: Work Boots, sport equipment such as, neck brace, knee pads, shoulder pads, hip pads etc. are recommended. No bare exposed skin. All drivers MUST wear long pants/coveralls as well as long-sleeved shirts. No exceptions. Working seat belt and racing helmet are mandatory. Helmets MUST have chin straps. Goggles or face shields are recommended. **No motocross style visors** BRAKES: Vehicles must have dependable brakes and must be working properly before entering the RING at all times. All boundaries must be observed. NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON TRACK, EMERGENCY VEHICLE AREA OR IN THE PIT AREA. Any driver or pit person under the influence of alcohol or drugs WILL NOT BE ALLOWED in the pit area. This will be strictly enforced. Careless driving in the pit area could result in disqualification. All cars are to be removed from the fairgrounds or racetrack immediately following the show. Additional safety regulations may be imposed, depending on track and conditions. 

 

Preparation of car – Remove or convert the following prior to arriving at fairgrounds or track 

 

  1. FLAMMABLE MATERIAL: All carpet, headliner, door pads, headlights & tail lights and ALL other flammable material MUST be removed from inside & outside of the car. Front seat and dashboard may be left in place. Trailer hitch must be removed and all sharp edges MUST be smashed down prior to the derby event.  Mandatory that bumper covers be removed. 

 

  1. GLASS/AIRBAGS All windows, mirrors, airbags & trim, MUST be removed prior to derby event. No loose glass smashed into the bottom of doors. DRIVERS SAFETY 

 

  1. DOORS & NUMBERS Driver door MUST be reinforced. An optional roof number plate may be securely installed. ALL drivers and pit persons MUST sign a waiver. Failing to do so will result in disqualification. Wrist bands MUST be worn at all times. 

 

  1. FIRE EXTINGUISHER Minimum of 2.5 lbs MUST be within reach of the driver, MUST work and have a proper working gauge. Please check the gauge on the extinguisher before arriving for the event. 

 

  1. BATTERY One 12-volt car battery MUST be moved to the front passenger floorboard/seat area and securely fastened in a box/container clear of all fuel sources. Following inspection, it MUST be covered with a non-flammable shield such as rubber mat or steel cover. No milk crates, no self-tapping screws. MUST BE ZERO MOVEMENT FROM BATTERY

 

  1. GAS TANK Stock gas tanks MUST be removed. MUST be a steel marine tank, custom steel fuel tank, or certified racing fuel cell. All tanks MUST be securely fastened down (bolted) in the middle of the back seat area. Tank may be covered with a non-flammable material (rubber mat/air bag) after inspection. No movement to occur during inspection. Leaks will result in disqualification. Gas tanks on trucks must be mounted to the frame rails and box cut out around the tank. Tanks cannot be mounted directly to the box floor. Extended cab trucks can have the tank mounted in the back seat area. NO PLASTIC TANKS Referee has the final decision.

 

7.FUEL PUMP Must have a safety shut off switch located on dash, window bar or roof for driver & officials to reach. Switch is to control the fuel pump only. Driver’s safety. MANDATORY. This rule is for fuel injected cars only, and does not apply to carbureted cars. 

 

  1. FUEL SYSTEM Electric fuel pump MUST be isolated with a non-flammable material covering lines, tank & pump. Example: covering may be fire resistant blanket or air bag material. 

 

  1. WELDING ABSOLUTELY NO WELDING ON VEHICLE. ONLY WITHIN THE GUIDELINES OUTLINED. No Exceptions. Referee has the final decision. 

 

  1. ENGINE Example- Gm – Gm, Ford – Ford, Dodge – Dodge. No distributor protects or drive line protectors of any kind. If the year/make/driveline of the car is in question, the driver MUST provide proof the car was made in that fashion, otherwise, the Referee will have final say. Firewall can be cut out behind the engine. 

 

  1. SHIFTERS Shifters may be directly attached to transmission linkage & relocated thru floor over transmission hump. 

 

  1. HOOD & TRUNK/TAILGATE Hoods are to be in stock position or removed. Hoods are not mandatory. Without hood – use electric fan only – fans directly connected to motor must be removed. With hood – a 12” opening must be cut in the center of the hood. Hoods must remain open for officials’ inspection. Hood can be fastened down in a maximum of 8 places including threaded rod or with seat belt strapping, wire, chain, or bolted closed using 2”x2” angle iron with a single 3/8 bolt. Hoods/rad support can be wired to the bumper in 4 places. Trunk/tailgate to be fastened down in the same way as hood. Trunks/gates can be fastened closed in maximum or 8 places including wired in 4 places to the rear bumper. No threaded rod in the trunk/tailgate. NO folding box sides or tailgates. Stock position. 

 

  1. DOOR FASTENING All doors must be fastened shut with wire, straps, chains, seat belts or welded with max 3”x3”x1/4” plates in max 8 locations per door. 

 

  1. BRACING Inside car: Post to post bar behind front seats – 3” to 4” in diameter. Can be welded or bolted in place. DASH BAR- 3” to Max 4” square tubing mounted door frame to door frame, but not to firewall. Not Mandatory. Driver Safety. A bar may run up each side connection seat bar and dash bar creating a safety cage around the driver. Max length of side bars 60”. You can have a max of 2 down bars bolted or welded to the rocker or frame. These bars must be off the seat bar. Outside Car: Flat bar only bolted 8 times with a maximum 3/4” bolts Max 72” long x 12” wide x ¼” thick. NO “C” CHANNEL, ANGLE IRON or BEVELLING. Not mandatory. Driver Safety. No limit on driver’s door protection between door seams. 

 

  1. WINDSHIELD SPACE Strong steel construction-type wire mesh is recommended for the windshield area. One strong upright steel, chain or iron bar must be bolted in the windshield area. 

 

  1. FIRE WALL All holes in the firewall must be filled/covered with tin or nonflammable material. 

 

  1. BUMPERS Any factory-made car bumper may be used. Bumpers may be seam welded or loaded. If you choose to use a piece of square tube as a bumper it can be no bigger than 4×4 or 3×5 and no thicker than 3/8. Tube bumpers cannot stick out more than 4” from the outside of the frame. If the ends are cut and bent on a 45 degree angle it can be as wide as the centre of the front tires. Tube bumpers must remain flat, you cannot build a point. You can do whatever you need to do to mount the bumper within 6” from the back of the bumper to the front of rad support without removing or relocating rad support. DO NOT ABUSE THIS RULE YOU WILL CUT. Rear bumpers must remain stock. PICK UP TRUCKS ONLY, may have a max 3×3 tube welded between the rear frame rails so the rails do not become spears. Mandatory that front and rear bumpers have at least 2 spots of 9 wire, chain or seat belt holding bumper on. Mandatory that bumper covers be removed. 

 

  1. RADIATOR Radiators and cooling system MUST be flushed of anti-freeze and only water added. Overflows for radiator MUST point downward to the ground. Radiator must be mounted in its original position or removed. No screens allowed. (Stock A.C. condensers permitted in original position.) No metal added around the radiator for reinforcement. No radiator guards. 

 

  1. TRANSMISSION COOLER No aftermarket coolers. 

 

  1. SUSPENSION Suspension MUST be stock. Movement MUST occur. It is recommended that rear coil springs be wired to the differential. All suspension arms MUST be stock. All steering components MUST remain stock. Strut blocks allowed 6” long.

 

  1. FRAMES NO WELDING. Trailer Hitch MUST be removed completely. Frames may be cut back to front of the radiator support. No relocating rad support. Rotten or bent frames may be repaired with a maximum of 4 (4”x4”x1/4”) square plates. These repairs are to be painted a bright colour and be reported during inspection. 

 

  1. MOTOR MOUNTS Stock mounts may be welded or chained. Any excessive or added mounts will result in disqualification. 2 chains may run from engine to frame area between rad support and firewall (upper control arm area) in case a motor mount breaks. No Exceptions. STOCK 

 

  1. BODY MOUNTS Front two mounts can be changed to max ¾” threaded rod. All stock rubbers and bolts. NO extra body mount bolts

 

  1. TIRES Any tire allowed. No triple side walls (tire flaps) on drive tires. Rims may have welded in centers only to change bolt pattern and not to strengthen the rim. No full centres. No valve stem protection.

 

  1. PRE-BENDING No pre-bending frame or body. Notching frames is permitted. Bolting of body panels is not permitted. 

 

  1. MECHANICAL REPAIRS MUST be stock material and in no way enhance the ability/performance of the vehicle. Rear ends, steering, control arms, axles MUST remain stock.

PLEASE VERIFY WITH  ESSA AGRIPLEX (HOME OF THE BARRIE FAIR) IF VEHICLE IS IN QUESTION Cars must have a wheelbase of 114’’ or less. Cars must have a unibody platform only. NO FULL FRAME CARS. Check with officials if car of choice is in question. STRAIGHT STOCK-NO ENGINE SWAPS, NO ALL WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES, NO ALL WHEEL DRIVE DELETED VEHICLES, & NO ALL WHITE CARS 

 

  1. NO trucks, convertibles, jeeps, vans, hearses, limousines or checker cabs. NO FULL FRAME, NO ALL WHEEL DRIVE, & NO ALL WHEEL DRIVE-DELETED CARS

PREPARATION OF CAR – REMOVE OR CONVERT THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO ARRIVING AT FAIRGROUNDS OR TRACK 

 

1.STRIPPING OF THE CAR Front and rear bumper covers MUST be removed. All lights, mirrors, exterior trim must be removed. All windows must be removed. Rear seat cushions must be removed. No loose debris. All airbags must be removed. No broken glass inside the doors. Trailer hitch must be removed and all sharp edges MUST be smashed down prior to the derby event. 

 

  1. WIRING Wiring may be moved but must remain under the hood, firewall forward. No wiring on dash or inside the car. No stand alone harnesses.

 

  1. FIRE EXTINGUISHER Must be within reach of the driver. Must work and have a proper working gauge. Please check the gauge on the extinguisher before arriving to the event.

 

  1. DOORS AND NUMBERS Driver’s door highly recommended to be reinforced. An optional roof number plate may be securely fastened. Cars MUST have a number clearly visible (roof sign, contrasting paint on the doors). Cars must be tastefully painted, this is a family event.

 

  1. BATTERY One 12-volt car battery MUST be moved to the front passenger floorboard/seat area and securely fastened in a box/container clear of all fuel sources. Following inspection, it MUST be covered with a non-flammable shield such as rubber mat or steel cover. No milk crates, no self-tapping screws. MUST BE ZERO MOVEMENT FROM BATTERY

 

  1. GAS TANK Stock gas tanks must be removed. Steel marine tank, custom fuel cell or certified racing fuel cell ONLY. All tanks must be securely fastened (bolted) down in the middle of the back seat area. No self tapping screws, plumbers strap, or ratchet straps to hold the tank. Tank may be covered with a nonflammable cover after inspection (air bag, floor mat). No movement can occur during inspection. Any leaks will result in disqualification. No gas tank protectors. Gas tank may be mounted to the post-to-post bar but not to act in any way as a protector. If the tank is mounted to the post-to-post bar it cannot be fastened to the floor of the car and must be a minimum of 15” from rear sheet metal. NO UNSAFE FUEL TANKS. NO “JERRY CANS.”

 

  1. FUEL LINES All fuel lines must have leak proof fitting with steel or rubber lines (no clear lines). No exceptions. Lines should run inside the car. Leaks will result in disqualification. All connections MUST have hose clamps to eliminate leaks. If your fuel system is not safe you will not run.

 

  1. FUEL PUMP Must have a safety shut off switch located on dash, window bar or roof for driver & officials to reach. Switch is to control the fuel pump only. Driver’s safety. MANDATORY. This rule is for fuel injected cars only, and does not apply to carbureted cars. 

 

  1. TRUNK/TAILGATE Trunks must be stock. Trunk lid must be in stock location or removed completely. NO PRE BENDING, tucking, or cutting. Trunk may be tied closed in 4 spots with chain, wire or seatbelt. If trunk lid is removed, you do not get any wire or seatbelts in the trunk area. No threaded rod in the trunk.

 

  1. HOOD Hoods are not mandatory. Without hood – use electric fan only – fans directly connected to motor must be removed. Hood to be in stock position or removed. A 12” opening must be cut in the center of the hood. Hoods to be fastened in MAX 4 places using chain, strap, wire or belts. No threaded rod in the hood. Hoods must remain open for officials’ inspection.

 

  1. BODY PANELS Metal may be cut from around wheels for clearance. No bending of body panels. No extra bolts anywhere.

 

  1. DOOR FASTENING All doors must be fastened shut with wire, straps, chains, or seat belts in MAX 4 spots per door. No bolting or welding doors closed.

 

  1. DOOR PLATES/DOOR BARS Outside of the car may have a 12” X 60” X ¼” max steel plate applied to the driver’s door, bolted in 6 locations with a max of 3/4″ bolts. NO “C” CHANNEL OR ANGLE IRON. Driver’s door can be reinforced in any form but not reinforce the frame. 

 

  1. CAGE/ROLL BAR You may have a post to post bar for safety. This bar can be a max of 3”x3”. This may be bolted or welded in position with a max of 8”x8” mounting plate. A bar may go down the driver’s side and be connected to A pillar, this is not mandatory. A roll over bar may be added, but must weld to the top of the cage bars, not to connect to the floor or rocker area. No other cage bars permitted. No downbars.

 

  1. INTERIOR MODIFICATIONS No welding of any inside body support seams or firewall seams. Large holes in car floors must be repaired with the same gauge metal and securely fastened. No reinforcement. Broken seats may result in disqualification.

 

  1. BUMPERS Front and rear bumpers must be 100% stock to that car. No changing of bumpers at all. Rear bumper may be removed. Both front and rear bumpers must have 2 spots of 9 wire, chain or seatbelts holding bumper on BEFORE INSPECTION. Front bumper must be tied to rad support, rear bumper must be tied to tail light panel. Zero welding of the bumpers. 

 

  1. RADIATOR Radiators and cooling systems must be flushed of antifreeze and only water added. Overflows for radiator must point downward to the ground. Radiator must be mounted in original position or removed. No screens allowed. (Stock A.C. condensers permitted in original position.) No metal added around the rad for reinforcement. No rad guards.   1. FRAMES No reinforcing of the frame. No welding. No pre bending. No patching or repairing of frame. Rear frame may be notched or dimpled, single notch or dimple, no double notch/dimple) 

 

  1. ENGINES/MOTOR MOUNTS Stock engine/transmissions. No reinforcing motor mounts. No chaining motors.

 

  1. BODY MOUNTS Stock. Stock bolts, stock bushings. No extra bolts. No extra 9 wire “body mounts” 

 

  1. WINDSHIELD/REAR WINDOW AREA Front window area must have 1 single steel bar, or chain bolted to cowl and front of roof, not welded. No rear window bars. No 9 wire in any windows. 

 

  1. TIRES Any tire may be used. All drive tires are to be filled with air only. Non-drive tires can be solid/foam filled. Tires may be doubled. Wheel centres may be welded into rim to change bolt pattern. No full centres. “Lip rings” will be allowed if securely fastened. No triple side walls. All wheel weights must be removed. No home-made rims. No bead locks, no valve stem protectors.

SPECIAL NOTICE: NO ALCOHOL OR DRUGS ALLOWED IN ANY RESTRICTED (PIT, HOLDING OR PERFORMING) AREA. ANY VIOLATIONS WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF CAR, DRIVER AND CREW. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR NOT FOLLOWING THIS RULE!!! DRIVERS and MECHANICS are subject to and must obey the following rules and regulations which are set up by the promoter and the track where this event is being held:

 

  1. ALL drivers and pit persons MUST sign an insurance waiver. Failing to do so will result in disqualification. Wrist bands MUST be worn at all times. 

 

  1. The original registered driver must drive the registered vehicle for the entire event. No substituting drivers.

 

  1. ESSA AGRIPLEX (HOME OF THE BARRIE FAIR) or promoter reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries, drivers or pit persons. 

 

  1. Only the driver and mechanic who sign an insurance waiver will be permitted in the pit area or on the track. All drivers, mechanics and pit persons must wear supplied wrist bands at all times. Failure to do so may result in ejection from the event or grounds. Drivers and mechanics are in the pit area at their own risk.

 

  1. ESSA AGRIPLEX (HOME OF THE BARRIE FAIR), the promoter, track owner or fair association will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to any cars, trucks, parts or personal property before, during and after the show.

 

  1. It is highly recommended that each competitor carry their own liability insurance.

 

  1. Drivers and mechanics should report to the ESSA AGRIPLEX (HOME OF THE BARRIE FAIR) sign in area at a minimum of 1.5 hours before the scheduled start time. 

 

TYPE OF CAR

 

 Any 4 or 6 cylinder hardtop automobile or station wagon. 4 or 6 cylinder cars only. Full driver’s cage permitted for figure 8/ X8 cars only. Cars previously ran may be considered too battered and unsafe, resulting in disqualification. If there is any question regarding the participant’s vehicle it is the driver’s responsibility to prove make, model, year, engine etc. RUNNING Risk: Demolition derbies are hazardous and high-risk sports; therefore, anyone with a health condition, i.e., concussion, heart problems, or who is pregnant should not compete. You are competing at your own risk. Protect yourself: Work Boots, sport equipment such as, neck brace, knee pads, shoulder pads, hip pads etc. are recommended. No bare exposed skin. All drivers MUST wear long pants/coveralls as well as long-sleeved shirts. No exceptions. Working seat belt and racing helmet are mandatory. Helmets MUST have chin straps. Goggles or face shields are recommended. **No motocross style visors** BRAKES: Vehicles MUST have dependable brakes and MUST be working properly before entering RING at all times. All boundaries MUST be observed. NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON TRACK, EMERGENCY VEHICLE AREA OR IN THE PIT AREA. Any driver or pit person under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed in the pit area. This will be strictly enforced. Careless driving in the pit area could result in disqualification. All cars are to be removed from the fairgrounds or racetrack immediately following the show. Additional safety regulations may be imposed, depending on track and conditions.

 

 PREPARATION OF CAR – REMOVE OR CONVERT THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO ARRIVING AT FAIRGROUNDS OR TRACK 

 

  1. FLAMMABLE MATERIAL: All carpet, headliner, door pads, headlights & tail lights and ALL other flammable material MUST be removed from inside & outside of the car. Front seat and dashboard may be left in place. Mandatory that bumper covers be removed.  

 

  1. TRAILER HITCH: MUST be removed and all sharp edges MUST be smashed down prior to the derby event. 

 

  1. GLASS/AIRBAGS: All windows, mirrors, airbags & trim, MUST be removed prior to derby event. No loose glass smashed into the bottom of doors. DRIVERS SAFETY 

 

  1. DOORS / NUMBERS: An optional roof number plate may be securely installed and highly recommended. There is no limit on driver’s door protection. You MUST have your number clearly marked on the car with contrasting paint. Failure to do so will result in your car not being counted. 

 

  1. FIRE EXTINGUISHER: Minimum of 2.5 lbs and MUST be within reach of the driver, MUST work and have a proper working gauge. Please check the gauge on the extinguisher before arriving for the event. 

 

  1. BATTERY: One 12-volt car battery may be moved to the front passenger floorboard/seat and securely fastened in a box/container clear of all fuel sources. Following inspection it MUST be covered with a non-flammable shield such as rubber mat or steel cover OR be left in stock position, covered with a floor mat. 

 

  1. GAS TANK: Stock gas tanks must be removed. Must be a steel marine tank, custom steel fuel tank, or certified racing fuel cell. All tanks must be securely fastened down (bolted) in the middle of the back seat area. Tank may be covered with a non-flammable material (rubber mat) after inspection. No movement to occur during inspection. Leaks will result in disqualification. NO PLASTIC FUEL TANKS. 

 

  1. FUEL LINES: All fuel lines MUST have leak proof fitting with steel or rubber lines (no clear lines). No exceptions. Lines should run inside the car. Leaks will result in disqualification. All connections MUST have hose clamps to eliminate fuel leaks. 

 

  1. ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP: MUST have a safety shut off switch marked in red located in the center of the windshield or dash area for officials use. Switch to control fuel pump only. Driver’s safety. MANDATORY. This rule is for fuel injected cars only. 

 

  1. HOOD & TRUNK: Hoods are not mandatory. Without hood – use electric fan only – fans directly connected to motor must be removed. With hood – a 12” opening must be cut in the center of the hood. Hoods must remain open for officials’ inspection. Hood must be fastened down in a maximum of 8 places including threaded rod or with seat belt strapping, wire, l/4” chain only, or bolted to fender. Hood latch should be removed. No welding hoods closed. Hoods can be wired to bumper in 2 places. Maximum of 4 spots with threaded rod maximum of ¾ inch holding the hood shut. Max washer size 4X4. Trunk/tailgate to be fastened down in the same way as hood or may be welded using 8 – 3” square plates. If the trunk is welded closed a 16” square hole must be cut in the center of the trunk for officials’ inspection. Trunks/gates can be fastened closed in maximum or 8 places including wired in 2 places to the rear bumper. Maximum of 2 spots with threaded rod maximum of ¾ inch holding the trunk shut. These spots will account for 2 of the 8 spots. Max washer size 4X4. 

 

  1. FIREWALL: Any holes must be covered with non-flammable material. 

 

  1. BODY PANELS: Metal may be cut from around wheels for clearance. Front & rear quarter panels may be bolted with up to 5 bolts per panel – maximum 3/8” bolts. Body panels may be shaped but not reinforced. No tire cutters. If the car comes with a plastic rad support it can be remade out of angle iron (max 2x2x1/4”). 

 

  1. DOOR FASTENING: Driver door must be reinforced and can be welded solid. All other doors must be fastened shut with wire, straps, ¼” chains or spot-welded, 1” every 12” or 6 – 3” square plates welded. 

 

  1. BRACING: Outside Car: Driver doors must be reinforced. Recommend flat bar only bolted 8 times (with a maximum 3/4” through bolt) spot-welded 1” every 12” on each side of vehicle, e.g., Max. 60” long x 12” wide x ¼” thick. Beveling allowed. NO “C” CHANNEL OR ANGLE IRON. Not mandatory. 

 

  1. ROLL BAR: Inside Car: Roll cage highly recommended. Cage inside not to extend past the rear strut towers and not to extend past the firewall. 

 

  1. WINDSHIELD SPACE: Must have a minimum of a single steel bar or chain from the cowl to the roof bolted or welded. The “A” or “H” style protection is permissible, but the bars must look like the A or H. The cross brace must be in the middle and in no way come in contact with the distributor protector. The horizontal bar must be a minimum 8” from the cowl. If using the “A” it may be welded or bolted in 3 locations. If using the “H” it may be welded or bolted in 4 locations & be no more than 36” in width. Driver must not be impaired from exiting through the window area of the car in case of emergency. 

 

  1. BUMPERS: Appropriate size car bumper, not to extend past middle of the front wheels. Front bumper may be welded to the frame up to 6” from the back of the bumper. Tube bumpers allowed 4”x4”or 3/5”x3/8” Max tube ends MUST be rounded and capped. No cutting of bumpers – may be bent inward…. must have smooth edges …no tire cutters! Bumpers can be wired to hood in 2 spots. No fully loading of bumpers but may be seam welded and patches added to cover factory holes to strengthen the bumper – official’s discretion. Mandatory that front and rear bumpers be tied up with wire or seat belts in minimum of 2 spots 

 

  1. FRONT GRILL: Screens allowed, bolted or welded to rad cradle only. (Stock A.C. condensers permitted in original position.) 

 

  1. RADIATORS: Radiators and cooling system must be flushed of anti-freeze and only water added. Overflows for radiator must point downward to the ground. Floating or leaned back rad cradles are accepted. If the radiator is relocated, all hoses must be run through PVC pipe in case of rupture. All hoses must be double clamped and have no leaks. If rad is relocated to the backseat area you must have a splash shield to protect the driver. Overflow must go through the floor onto the ground. 

 

  1. TRANSMISSION COOLER: Are permitted and must be secured in the engine compartment. Transmission dipsticks must be securely fastened, wired down or have an overflow tube pointing straight down away from drivers or spectators. 

 

  1. SUSPENSION: Suspension must remain stock (movement must occur). Broken or sagging parts may be replaced. It is recommended that the rear coils be wired to differential. No spring blocks or added helpers. 

 

  1. HEADERS: Headers must point straight up. 

 

  1. FRAME ALTERATIONS: Front frame may be reinforced within reason. Tube inside frame rails or plate on the outside, not both. K frame may be reinforced. Nothing tying into the cage. 

 

  1. ENGINE MOUNTS: Welded solid or chained down engine mounts are recommended. 

 

  1. TIRES: Any tire may be used on drive tires. All drive tires must be filled with air only. Tires may be doubled. No split rims. No bead locks or bead protectors. No screwing tires to rim or studding. All wheel weights must be removed and no welding stem protections. Carry spare mud tires in case track conditions warrant. NO triple sidewalls on drive tires. Rear tires may be solid, foam filled or spare tires. 

 

  1. FIGURE 8 / X8: Hits may occur in the crossing or around blocks. Absolutely NO deliberate demolition derbying – this will result in disqualification.

2025 

 

Age Group: 5- 12 years old 

 

Time Limit: 10-15 mins 

 

General Rules: 

 

1.All children MUST be signed in with the waiver by their legal guardian

 

2.All children MUST wear approved safety helmets. Bicycle helmet will pass 

 

3.All children MUST wear eye protection 

 

Power Wheel Build Rules: 

 

  1. All power wheels MUST remain stock with no added re=inforcements. 

-May change to or add rubber to wheels for gripping purpose only

 

2.May use factory 12 volt battery or change out to lawnmower, atv, or drill battery. 

-BATTERY MUST BE MOUNTED SECURELY AWAY FROM CHILD 

 

3.Doors and hood MUST be zip tied shut. 

 

4.Recommend some type of seatbelt, especially for the smaller participants.

As a condition of use of the Essa Agriplex facility, participants assume all risk of personal injury, death or property loss from any cause whatsoever, including nut not limited to the risks, dangers, and hazards of a Demolition Derby and associated activities. Furthermore, the participant assumes all risk of personal injury, death or property loss resulting from negligence, breach of contract or statutory duty or care, including any duty of care under the Occupiers Liability Act, R.S.O. 1990, C..0.2 on the part of Barrie Fair, Essa & District Agricultural Society and their employees, agents, representatives and sponsors. The participant agrees that the Barrie Fair, Essa & District Agricultural Society and their employees, agents, representatives and sponsors shall not be liable for any personal injury, death or property loss.

The participant releases the Barrie Fair, Essa & District Agricultural Society and their employees, agents, representatives and sponsors and waives all claims with respect thereto. The participant agrees that any litigation involving the parties named above shall be brought solely within the Province of Ontario and shall be within the Province of Ontario and shall be within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of the Province of Ontario. The participant further agrees that these conditions and any rights, duties and obligations as between the above named parties and the participant shall be governed by and interpreted solely in accordance with the laws of the Province
of Ontario and no other jurisdiction. The liability of Barrie Fair, Essa & District Agricultural Society and their employees, agents, representatives and sponsors is excluded by these conditions.
