Happy Canadian Ag Day! The Essa & District Agricultural Society is proud to be a part of the local Agricultural Community as we truly do get to work with the best people in the industry!
For 166 years, the Barrie Fair & Essa & District Agricultural Society (formerly Barrie Agricultural Society) have been lucky enough to work with local farmers and producers to bridge the gap between the farm and consumers plates. Today, we are proud to promote the hardworking farmers across not only Ontario, but across Canada!
With a country as vast and diverse as Canada, it only makes sense that different areas specialize in different things, while some animals/ crops can thrive in almost any environment! So where might your food come from? Check out the image below!
On Canadian Ag Day (and every other day too), we celebrate the farmers who are dedicated to their animals, their land and their community and we encourage you to learn more about the truth about the agricultural industry and Agri-business. For more resources and information about Canadian Farms, visit the Agriculture More than Ever website, follow their ambassadors on Social Media, and join in the conversation!
On behalf of the staff and board of directors, we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and Happy Holiday season! Please note that our office will be closed from 12pm (noon) December 21st to January 7th.
Other than Barrie Fair time, our favourite time of the year is ROYAL TIME! We would like to wish all of our Barrie Fair, ENDHS and Lord Simcoe Series exhibitors the best of luck as they head to Toronto for the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair over the next 2 weeks!
The Barrie Fair is a qualifier for the Masterfeeds Supreme Champion Show at the Royal, and the RBC Beef Supreme Challenge at Canadian Western Agribition in Regina, SK. Wishing the best of luck to our Champions, Brendale Premier Eldorado exhibited by Premier Livestock and SOO Line Sandy 2010 exhibited by J-Star Livestock.
Do you need extra space in your driveway over the winter, but have your RV/ Boat/ trailer in the way? Check out our winter storage opportunities today!
A fair that’s older than Canada — Started in 1853, the fair has become one of the largest agricultural shows in central Ontario. The fair used to be held at the Barrie Fairgrounds on Essa Road, but is now located at the Essa Agriplex at 7505 10th Line in Thornton….
The season here at the Agriplex has officially wrapped up, and we are already missing all of the friendly faces (both human and animal) that we have met over the season! Thank you to all of our volunteers, staff, rentals, exhibitors and sponsors who made this one we won’t soon forget!
With our main business taking place from May to September, we have a lot of action to pack into 5 months, but we did it and are already looking forward to next year!
The wait is over! The 165th Barrie Fair Prize Books are now available online! Go to the Barrie Fair tab in the top menu to find them! If you have any troubles opening them, please contact us!
Current members of the Essa & District Agricultural Society are strongly encouraged to attend our annual AGM on Tuesday February 20th 2018 at 6:30pm at the Best Western Royal Oak Inn in Barrie. This is a great opportunity to share your feedback and contribute to the future plans for the Essa Agriplex.
With the season wrapped up, and the facility beginning to shut down for the winter, the Essa Agriplex is looking for volunteers to come in and help with a final collection of garbage, to keep our grounds beautiful. If you, or someone you know would be interested in volunteering, please contact us at 705-726-1200, or email [email protected].
