Homecraft Chairperson’s Message

On behalf of the Homecraft Division, I would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome everyone back to the Homecraft Division Showcase, presented by the Essa & District Agricultural Society.

It was with heavy hearts that the Essa & District Agricultural Society Board of Directors had to cancel last year’s Barrie Fair, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Homecraft Division is thrilled to be back again in 2021 as a Homecraft Showcase. We will feature everyone’s exhibits virtually, as long as the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic allow us to do so. The health and safety of the volunteers, exhibitors and staff are our first priority, and the Homecraft Committee will follow all the health and safety protocols in place by Public Health to ensure this.

The Homecraft Committee have spent many hours, working diligently, to create a little something for everyone who wishes to display their exhibits this year. Please select the categories that best fit you and your creativity, and review the rules and regulations in each department, as well as the Homecraft Division Showcase: General Rules & Regulations.

I would like to thank the Homecraft Committee members for all their hard work and dedication before, during and after the Homecraft Division Showcase this year in challenging circumstances, it is greatly appreciated. We are always looking for new committee members to help in the Homecraft Division, so please let me know by phone or email if you are interested in getting involved.

The Homecraft Division has always been an important part of the Barrie Fair’s tradition, and the amount of interest in the Homecraft Division is continuously growing. Our sponsorship alone shows that the community truly supports the Homecraft Division, and sees the bright future ahead for this wonderful part of the Barrie Fair. We are also continuously looking for families and businesses to sponsor different classes within the Homecraft Division. Please let me know by email or phone if you are interested in supporting our classes.

The Committee is pleased that we are continuously growing with regards to the number of exhibitors and entries, each and every year. It is your contribution that allows the Homecraft Division of the Barrie Fair to be a huge success!

There are some great Junior Division Specials located in Department 4, which includes a Prize Book Cover Competition, with the 2022 Homecraft Division Theme, “On with the Show”, as well as a Yard Promotion of the Barrie Fair, a Country Fair Scarecrow Competition, and a Lego/Duplo Competition. We cannot wait to see all your wonderful exhibits!

The preferred and easiest method of registering your entries is through AssistExpo at https://www.assistexpo.ca/essa-agriplex. The closing date for submission of entries is no later than Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 3:00 PM. If you have any questions regarding your registration or submission of entries, please feel free to contact me either by phone or email.

In closing, promoting agriculture and celebrating our community through the arts is one way that the Homecraft Division of the Barrie Fair can bring joy and positivity this summer to our community this summer during these uncertain times. We look forward to seeing all our wonderful exhibitors and exhibits this year! Keep well and stay safe everyone!

Sincerely,

Emily Kistler
